Support to strike

BANGALORE, FEB. 22. The following organisations have announced their support to the general strike on Tuesday.

They are: The All India Trade Union Congress, the All Karnataka State Government Employees Federation, the Karnataka State Secretariat Employees Sangha, the State unit of the Joint Platform of Action, a federation of employees of the Union and State Governments, and the Socialist Unity Centre of India.

Auto strike

Meanwhile, autorickshaw drivers and owners will go on strike from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. the same day demanding that Government withdraw an order cancelling permits of autorickshaws without LPG gas kits.

The Government Order says that autorickshaws registered after March 2002 should be equipped with LPG kits by February 29, failing which permits will be cancelled.
