Letters to the Editor
Sir, Among the reasons for most State Electricity Boards turning sick is the free/less-than-cost supply of electricity provided to farmers. The large-scale burnout of pump-set motors is proof of the `quality' of power. In this context one welcomes the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu asking the people to choose between free power (promised by the Congress) and the quality power his government has been providing (Feb. 23 ). Mr. Naidu stands tall among today's Chief Ministers for resisting the temptation, especially on the eve of polls, to make tall promises which, if implemented, can only spell disaster for the SEBs and hence for power reforms.
