TIRUPATI, FEB. 24. In what is being termed as a `major blow' to the People's War activities in the State, the divisional committee member of the PW's Nallamala forest division, Jangadi Kumaraswamy of Warangal district, surrendered to the officers of the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the Alipiri blast case. According to the SIT chief, D.T. Nayak, the surrendered naxalite though was not directly involved in the Alipiri incident was a close aide of Takkelapalli Vasudeva Rao, an accused in the Claymore mine attack on the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu's convoy on the Tirumala ghat road. Jangadi Kumaraswamy alias JK during his 14 year-stint in the Nallamala Forest Division was said to have been involved in four cases of murder, three blastings, three attacks on police stations, one case each of bus burning and kidnapping besides other offences. He was actively involved in the recent PW offensive in Prakasam district in which an SI and constable were allegedly kidnapped and later released.
