SAR Silicon's pact with U.S. firm

NEW DELHI: Power product vendor, SAR Silicon Systems Pvt. Ltd., on Tuesday announced technology transfer agreement with the U.S.-based EaglePicher for manufacturing automotive batteries. The company has also decided to invest around Rs. 30 crores to set up an assembly plant in Himachal Pradesh to produce eight lakh units of automotive and VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) batteries annually. According to the company's Managing Director, Rakesh Malhotra, technology development in the battery industry in India had failed to meet the global standards. The agreement with EaglePicher would bring superior technology in automotive batteries in the country, he added.
