HYDERABAD, FEB. 24. Marriage alliances fixed for a paltry sum of five rupees! Sounds incredible, but this has actually happened in a village in West Godavari district. Thanks to the advent of Information Technology, as many as 10 marriages have been solemnised in Denduluru after the couples got to know each other through the Internet. None of them is IT-savvy. This has been made possible after an eSeva centre has been established in the village and handed over to a DWCRA group to be run exclusively by women. Apart from the 14 services that the centre offers, it also helps parents find suitable matches for their children through the Net. This was disclosed by residents of Denduluru, a model village, during `Spoorthy', a live video interaction with the Telugu Desam Party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday evening. One of those who got married through the Net, Varalakshmi, told a curious Venkata Subba Reddy, who telephoned her from a neighbouring district, that all it cost her to find her life partner was five rupees. "We are doing very well, thank you," she said.
