GUNTUR, FEB. 24. The Guntur Police produced the second accused in the Thadepalli cyanide mixing case, Ravi, in the Special Court for CID cases in Guntur on Tuesday and the judge remanded him to judicial custody till February 26. According to the police statement Ravi was arrested near Gurram Jashua statue on the Tank Bund in Hyderabad last evening and brought to Guntur. The first accused Srinivasa Rao is also under judicial custody till February 26. The Special Court Judge and the Seventh Additional Munsif Magistrate, R. Sarat Babu, read the police statement in which the accused Ravi accepted his guilt of mixing cyanide in liquor at two bars in Thadepalli and Mangalagiri in Guntur district on August 17 and 19 last year allegedly to test the efficacy of cyanide for killing people. Four persons had died at the Urvasi Bar in Thadepalli and three persons two days later at Kanakadurga Bar in Mangalagiri on consuming the cyanide-mixed liquor, which they allegedly tested with an intention to make a quick buck by looting people after they fell prey to this potion. According to the statement given to the police, Ravi, a real estate dealer, had procured cyanide through one of his assistants, Shyam Sundar, for Rs. 150. The Circle Inspector, Ravindra Babu, led the police team to arrest the second accused.
