Jogi to campaign for Congress

By K.V. Prasad

NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. With elections approaching, the Congress has decided to enlist the services of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Ajit Jogi, for party work.

Mr. Jogi, who had been seeking revocation of his suspension from the party, had been asked to go and campaign for the party in the North-East, Congress sources said tonight.

Mr. Jogi had been pleading with the party high command to take an early view on revoking his suspension and, at the same time, made it known that he was keen on associating himself for electioneering. He is understood to have had a meeting with the Congress president in this connection earlier this month. The Congress had suspended Mr. Jogi in December last following a report that he had unauthorisedly given a letter of support in favour of a BJP leader in his quest to form a Government in Chhattisgarh.
