Boy injured in explosion
MUMBAI,
FEB. 24
. A boy was injured following an explosion near the Kurla Railway terminus today.
The 17-year-old boy, a rag picker, who suffered splinter injuries in his legs, following the explosion has been hospitalised.
The boy was scanning a garbage bin near the Sable Nagar slums, close to the terminus, this afternoon when the explosion occurred, police said. The bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot. Unconfirmed sources said the explosion could have occurred due to Magnesium flares used by the Navy.
Police said the squad was ascertaining if the material found at today's explosion site bore a resemblance to the flares explosion that occurred in suburban Govandi last month, injuring 11 children.
