THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 24 . The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) would announce its candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections on Friday. The party is waiting for the UDF to complete the formalities of seat-sharing talks, scheduled to be held here on Wednesday. According to sources, the IUML would not make any tall claims for additional seats. It would not mind accepting the Congress party's stand that it would like to contest in the maximum number of seats in view of its political imperative of emerging as the single largest party in the Lok Sabha. The IUML has been traditionally contesting from the Ponnani and Manjeri Parliamentary seats, which they usually win by a thumping majority. This time, the party is likely to field its all India General Secretary, E Ahmed, from Ponnani, replacing the sitting MP and all India president, G. M. Banatwalla. Mr. Ahmed is being considered for the Ponnani seat because of the pressure from the party workers in the constituency. The party is yet to choose its second candidate and there are several names that are doing the rounds.
