ACP remanded to judicial custody

The Charminar ACP (Traffic), Nageswara Rao, against whom a case under Prevention of Atrocities against SC and ST Act was registered by the Chandrayanagutta police, was arrested on Tuesday.

Rao was remanded to judicial custody till March 9 after he was produced before the court here today. Criminal cases were registered against Rao after the Falaknuma Traffic Inspector, Raja Babu, lodged a complaint accusing the former of assaulting, and abusing him in the name of caste.

Two girls

found dead

Two girls --Kavitha (14) and Shantamma (12)--were found dead in a water sump of Swastik Oil Factory at Chandrayanagutta crossroads on Tuesday evening.

Parent of the deceased Laxman and Mallikarjun, were working in the same factory and live with their families on its premises.

"No injuries were found on the body. It appears to be a mishap", the South Zone DCP, Harish Kumar Guptha, said. Some workers found the bodies in the sump around 7 p.m.
