Clear skies

CHENNAI, FEB. 24. The skies will be mainly clear on Wednesday and the minimum temperature will be around 20 degree Celsius.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam was 31.6 and 32.2 degree Celsius, while the minimum was 20.4 and 20 degree Celsius. The humidity level stood at 66 and 72 per cent.

Power shutdown

Power supply will be suspended in parts of S.K. Nagar, Santhome, Velachery, Park Town, Pudupet, Perungalathur and Triplicane between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday for maintenance work.

Cancer care trust

`V Canhelp,' a cancer care trust, was launched by Vijaya Bharati Rangarajan, Executive Director, Canstop, Sundaram Medical Foundation. The trust seeks to create awareness, provide financial aid for treatment, counsel patients and their family and help institutions caring for the terminally ill.

Special homams

Special poojas and homams were held on Sunday for the benefit of students writing public examinations. Dakshinamoorthy homam, Vidya Ganapathy homam and Maha Saraswathi homam were performed at Vani Mahal. Kanchi Acharyas, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, blessed the students. The programme was organised by the Kanchi Kamakoti Devotees Association.
