Four sentenced to life

NEW DELHI, FEB. 24. A city court today sentenced four men to life imprisonment for murdering an old man four years ago after robbing him of valuables.

Additional Sessions Judge O P Saini also ordered convicts - Shamsad, Zakir, Mohammed Javed and Ashraf - to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 each.

On March 19, 1999, the quartet had stopped an old man near Gandhi Peace Foundation at ITO here, stabbed him and robbed him of his valuables.

The man succumbed to the injuries on the spot. The prosecution had examined 21 witnesses in the case.
