PONDICHERRY, FEB. 25. The president of the Pondicherry State committee of the Janata Dal (Secular), E. Ganesan, has urged the Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, to declare Pondicherry region a drought hit. Mr. Ganesan said in a communication here today that farmers in the region had also been facing difficulties. No relief was available to them despite difficult irrigation position last year. Hence the administration should declare the entire Pondicherry a drought hit and immediately launch relief works.
