WFI eyes more Olympic berths

NEW DELHI, FEB. 25. On the back of securing six Olympic berths in freestyle, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is eyeing five more, from its Greco-Roman and women grapplers.

With women's wrestling making its debut at the Athens Games, India has pinned its hopes of qualifying in at least two weight categories in this section. Asian silver medallist Geetika Jakhar (63kg) and Kamani Yadav (48kg) have been tipped to win the Olympic berths, at the first qualifying tournament in Tunisia from March 6 to 7.

"We expect Geetika and Kamini to win the berths and make an appearance in the Olympic Games,'' said the WFI Secretary, Rajinder Gulia on Wednesday.
