Short film festival from February 27

THRISSUR, FEB. 25. A festival of short films and documentaries, `Small films in a smaller world', is being organised at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi hall here from February 27 by the Chetana Media Institute in association with the Drishti Campus Film Club, Rashmi Film Society and the Calicut University Film Society.

Kanak Dikshit, the chairman of the Katmandu-based Film South Asia, will inaugurate the three-day festival, director of the Chetana Institute, Fr. Benny Benedict, announced at a press conference here on Wednesday.

The films to be screened include Gopal Menon's `Resilient Rhythms', Madhusree Datta's `Made in India', Surabhi Sharma's `Aamaakar', Kavita Joshi-Malati Rao's `Some Roots Grow Upwards', P. Balan's `18{+t}{+h} Elephant - Three Monologues', Prashanth Daya's `Stolen Water', K. P. Jayashankar-Anjali Monteiro's `Nata', Amar Kanwar's `A Night of Prophecy ', Sreedevi Mohan's `Unquiet Flows the Chaliar', Madhu Janardhanan's `Baburaj', Kiran Krishna Shreshta's `In Search of a Song', Subradeep Chakravarthy's `Godhra Tak', Shahen Dill-Riaz's `Sand and Water' and Avira Rebecca's `An Unfinished Movie'.

Discussions will be held on the following topics - `Regional cultures, and global economic and media equations', `Censorship', `Problems faced by documentary filmmakers' and `Short films and people's movements'
