By Our Staff Correspondent
HASSAN, FEB. 25. Arkalgud in Hassan district, 6 km. from the Hemavathi Reservoir, has been facing a shortage of drinking water for the past few days. Sources said the problem was due to a technical snag at the Gorur pumping station. For the people of the town, it was a perennial problem and it was the then prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda, who sanctioned a Rs. 2.62-crore project to supply drinking water from the reservoir. A few residents of the town said the town panchayat had not made any effort to solve the problem. They blamed the authorities concerned for not utilising the water supply scheme properly.
