BHOPAL, FEB. 25. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch leader, K.N. Govindacharya, today emphasised that "Hinduness'' in English is the closest translation of Hindutva. "Hinduness" symbolises universalism, equal respect for all religions and leaves no room for sectarianism, he pointed out. Mr. Govindacharya was delivering the Sri Ma Memorial Lecture organised by Sri Aurobindo Society here today. He said that nationalism should be viewed as a "geo-cultural'' concept rather than from the point of view of a "nation-State''. In the same context, he observed that the "United States of America gets annoyed when France and Germany tend to question its status as a Nation and describe it merely as a State''. Mr. Govindacharya said that eco-friendly techno-economic order is the true manifestation of Hindutva. Under this order, the world is not a market but one big family, he asserted. Hindutva helps transcend from a level where life remains caught in the trap of competition and perpetual struggle to another level where there is absolute urge to strike a mutual balance with nature. Mr. Govindacharya said the march of any civilization is too dynamic and no organisation or political party should try to take credit for it. Spirituality widens our vision, Mr. Govindacharya said adding it works like a light-house and shows us the way. The need of the hour, he said, is to "think globally but act locally".
