Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's suggestion that the Conditional Access System be deferred and the demand of the multi-system operators (MSOs) in Chennai be allowed to raise the charges to Rs. 300 a month plus taxes in case CAS is withdrawn. The Centre as well as the State Government should retain the MSOs' old rates Rs.180 plus taxes that would work out to approximately Rs.200. Even this will fetch them about Rs.16 crores a month.
