AMMA firm on holding show
By Our Staff Reporter
KOCHI,
FEB. 26.
The chances of finding an amicable solution to the crisis in the Malayalam film industry regarding the stage show being organised by a private television channel on March 7 has dimmed with the actor Innocent, president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), declaring that the show would be held as per schedule.
The programme has been fixed much in advance with the AMMA entering into a legal contract with the channel, Mr. Innocent told The Hindu . Breaching the agreement would result in heavy financial burden to the AMMA in terms of compensation for the channel. Besides, many film stars have already fixed their schedule and travel programmes for the programme. Many of them who are abroad would be coming down on that day. All arrangements for the show are in progress. In these circumstances, postponing the show was impossible, said Mr. Innocent. Mr. Innocent further said that the AMMA was banking upon the revenue from this stage show for continuing the monthly `kaineettam,' of Rs. 2,000 now being given to 37 veteran and deserving artistes.
