Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Bahujan Samaj Party leader, Mayawati's outbursts against the Congress and the BJP reflect her frustration at not forging an electoral alliance with either of the parties. Her statement that the `feel good' factor is limited to manuwadis is incorrect. After all, it was the manuwadi BJP that made her `feel good' as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on three occasions.
B. Suresh Kumar,
Sir, The prominence given to Ms. Mayawati lends credence to the charge that the media is projecting a larger than life image of politicians. Of Ms. Mayawati and her ilk who have cultivated vote-banks solely by stoking the fire of casteism among the electorate, the positions of power they attain will only be transient. Indeed, their "boast of heraldry and the pomp of power... lead but to anonymity" due apology to Thomas Gray for substituting the last word.
N.K. Suryanarayanan,
Sir, Ms. Mayawati's double-barrel blast is a clear reflection of political opportunism.
Himanshu Kumar,
