KOTTAYAM, FEB. 27. The selection of candidates to the management seats at the self-financing medical education institutions during 2004-05 would be based on a common entrance test under the aegis of the K. T. Thomas Committee for Unaided Professional Colleges. An understanding to this effect has been reached during the discussions the K. T. Thomas Committee had with the managements of the concerned institutions. It may be remembered that one of the key demands of the private managements was that it was their right to hold individual entrance tests for selection to the management seats. All streams, other than nursing, would be covered under the common test. These include dental, unani, ayurveda, etc. According to a press note issued by the office of committee, there will be another entrance examination for selection at the nursing colleges under the self-financing stream. The managements of the engineering colleges had agreed to select their candidates for the management seats from the common entrance test being held by the Government, Justice Thomas told The Hindu .
