WASHINGTON, FEB. 28. The United States President, George W. Bush, has made a formal determination that Pakistan is cooperating with his country in the global war on terrorism. A memorandum has been issued to the Secretary of State, Colin Powell, as this is required for getting certain specific types of assistance. "Consistent with the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, including the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Defence and for the Reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan, 2004 (Public Law 108-106)... I hereby determine for the purposes of the Act that the Government of Pakistan is cooperating with the United States in the Global War on Terrorism," said Mr. Bush, and authorised Gen. Powell to report this to Congress and to arrange for its publication in the Federal Register.
