Vehicle tax collection counters to open from March 26

CHENNAI,
FEB. 28.
The transport department will open several counters throughout the city to collect annual tax of non- transport vehicles to prevent hardship to vehicle owners.
These centres, for the payment of tax due for motor cycles, scooters, jeeps and cars, will be open from March 26 till April 10 from 10.a.m. till 1.30 p.m. on all days except Sundays. Payment of annual tax is due from April 1.
Some of the new locations include the Automobile Association of Southern India on Anna Salai, Vani Mahal, Race Course, Secretariat Police Station, and fire service station at High Court complex besides the Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus depots at Anna Nagar (West), Anna Nagar (East) and Perambur. Some more centres will also be opened at the premises of the various regional transport offices.
