Aron's century helps UFCC upset SPIC

CHENNAI, FEB. 28. R. Satish (147) and S.P. Lekshmikumar (124 not out), both from India Pistons, UFCC - T. Nagar's V.B. Aron (102 not out) and P. Ram Prasad of Chemplast Sanmar `B' (104) came up with match-winning three-figure knocks in the Indian Bank - TNCA limited overs tournament here on Saturday.

In an upset, UFCC (T. Nagar), powered by Aron's unbeaten hundred, defeated SPIC by 119 runs at SPIC-YMCA.

India paceman L. Balaji (six for 12) sparkled in Chemplast Sanmar A's four-wicket win over Districts, while R. Raghuram (five for 11) and Benz Raj (five for 37) turned in impressive performances for India Pistons and SPIC respectively.

The day also witnessed ICF, defending 180, scoring a thrilling one-run victory over SICAL at the Vivekananda-SICAL ground. S. Thulasiram top-scored with 72 for the winning team.

The scores: Districts 130 in 41.5 overs (G. Raju 55, L. Balaji six for 12) lost to Chemplast Sanmar `A' 133 for six in 33.5 overs (S. Badrinath 56 not out, Hemang K. Badani 32, Gokulakrishnan three for 33), at IIT-Chemplast. Chemplast Sanmar `A' 5; Districts minus 1.

ICF 180 in 50 overs (S. Thulasiram 72, R. Sukumar 30, M.P. Rajesh three for 33) bt SICAL 179 for nine in 50 overs (V. Gautham 48), at Viveka-SICAL. ICF 4; SICAL 0.

IOB 277 for five in 50 overs (V. Nagini Kumar 74, Sree Kumar Nair 60, Y. Gyaneshwar Rao 37, ASK Verma 33 not out) bt Mambalam Mosquitios 197 for eight in 50 overs (C. Ganapathy 51, Abdul Malik 50, Subramania Siva 34, K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan three for 35), at MAC. IOB 5; Mosquitos minus 1.

Chemplast Sanmar `B' 270 for eight in 47 overs (P. Ram Prasad 104, M. Vijay 42, Aditya Srikkanth 32, Sunil Moses 30, Martin Sanjeev 26, M.K. Sivakumar four for 51) bt Parry's 108 in 32.3 overs (E. Arun Kumar 32, R. Jesuraj four for 31, P. Ram Prasad three for 31), at SRMC. Chemplast Sanmar `B' 5; Parry's minus 1.

UFCC (T. Nagar) 241 in 50 overs (V.B. Aron 102 not out, Vishal Kudwala 45, S. Vijayasarathy 34, Benz Raj five for 37) bt SPIC 122 in 31.4 overs (R. Subashraj 41, R. Naresh three for 35, Sunny Patel three for 31), at SPIC-YMCA. UFCC 5; SPIC minus 1.

India Pistons 348 for two in 50 overs (S.P. Lekshmi Kumar 124 not out, R. Satish 147, D. Dandapani 30) bt Junior Colts (IV) 126 in 43 overs (Alexander 47, R. Raghuram five for 11), at CPT-IP. India Pistons 5; Junior Colts minus 1.
