TIRUCHI, FEB.28. The Government has allotted Rs.100 crores to be extended as credit for entrepreneurs from Backward, Most Backward Classes and the minorities through the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Economic Development Corporation and the TN Minorities Economic Development Corporation, according to the Secretary of the BC, MBC and Minorities Welfare, A.Nagarajan, has said. Speaking at a review meeting here on Friday, he said the agencies were extending the credit at a low interest rate of just seven per cent. Officials should create an awareness among the masses of the schemes and bring out brochures and other promotional materials to ensure that the target groups availed the schemes. The district officials should expedite the process of sanctioning loans under the schemes and take steps to improve recovery also. Mr. Nagarajan reviewed the implementation of individual credit schemes, self-help credit schemes and entrepreneurship-training programme for self-help groups. The Collector, K.Manivasan, the District Revenue Officer, V.Srinivasan, the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, A. Ambikeswaran, the Project Officer of the District Rural Development Agency, M.Manohara Singh, among others, participated in the meeting.
