Drive against taxi, autos planned

NEW DELHI FEB. 28. The Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, has directed the Traffic police to initiate a concerted drive against taxi and autorickshaw drivers causing problems to people at railway stations. The pre-paid autorickshaw booths have also been revived at the main railway stations across the Capital.

According to a Delhi Police spokesperson, Dr. Paul has been receiving a feedback about problems related to misbehaviour, refusal and over-charging by autorickshaw and taxi drivers. He has now directed the Traffic police to take action either on the complaint of the commuter or even on their own. The stretches near railway stations should also be kept free from undisciplined parking so that those arriving at or leaving the stations can do so smoothly.

The pre-paid booths functioning at Ajmeri Gate and Paharganj sides on New Delhi railway station and the ones on the Old Delhi and Nizamudin railway stations have been revived. Adequate traffic police personnel have been provided at these centres to ensure that the commuters have easy and fair access to the system.

Dr. Paul has also requested people to keep sending the feed back about such problems to the police.
