THRISSUR, FEB. 28. The acting president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), P.P. Thankachan, has said that the party has taken serious note of group politics that does not cease in the district. He told mediapersons on Saturday that he had instructed the groups in the Congress not to indulge in mud-slinging. Asked to comment on the spat between the Ollur MLA, P. P. George, and the Kodakara MLA, K.P. Viswanathan, Mr. Thankachan said that the leaders had been asked not to issue public statements against each other. The acting president said that the faction feud, like the one witnessed during the local body elections at Erumapetty in the Wadakkanchery constituency, would not affect the prospects of the Electricity Minister, K. Muraleedharan, in the bypoll. Later, at a function at the District Congress Committee office, Mr. Thankachan said that those who indulged in anti-party activities would have to quit.
