THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 28. The Hindu Aikya Vedi and the Araya Samajam of Marad today decided to resume their agitation over the Marad incident, saying that the Government had gone back on its promise of instituting a CBI probe into the communal carnage that claimed nine lives in May 2003. At a press conference here today, the president of the Hindu Aikya Vedi, J. Sisupalan, and the secretary of the Araya Samajam, T. Suresh, said that the only thing the Government had done since October 5, 2003, when the issues raised by them were settled through talks, was to provide compensation to the families of the victims of the violence. He said that the Hindu Aikya Vedi would launch a house-to-house campaign in the State from March 1 to 7 to expose the `duplicity' of the Government on this issue. It would also observe March 5 as `betrayal day' by taking out processions and holding public meetings all over the State. This would be followed by a vehicle rally from Kasaragod on March 23.
