Temperature

MADURAI, FEB. 28 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.4 degree Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 108.70 feet with a discharge of 110 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 29.66 feet with a discharge of 30 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit was 1,009 mcft.

Two fatally

run over

Two persons were killed in a road accident on the Madurai-Melur National Highway at Ulaganeri today.

The police said M. Ayyanar (36) of Therkutheru and K. Sampath Kumar alias Govindarajan (16) of Ambalakkaranpatti were standing in front of a tea stall opposite the High Court Bench buildings when a mini-bus ran over them. While Ayyanar died on the spot, Sampath Kumar succumbed to injuries on way to the Government Rajaji Hospital.

The Othakadai police have registered a case.

Yoga programme

The Gandhi Memorial Museum will conduct a month-long yoga training programme from March 3.

It will benefit those suffering from diabetes, hyper/hypo-tension, obesity, respiratory problems, stress, insomnia, thyroid problems and other diseases.

Persons above 13 years are eligible.
