THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 29. The Kerala University Union has announced the results of a Gallup poll to select the most popular programmes telecast on various television channels during the previous year. The `Television Gallup Poll 2003', was conducted in association with the Media Research Academy, among students of colleges affiliated to the University of Kerala. Announcing the awards at a press conference here today, Ben Darwin, chairman of the Kerala University Union, and K.Suresh Kumar and V.G.Roy, directors, Media Research Academy, said that the results of the poll reflected the feelings and preferences of the campuses. "Students Only", telecast by the Kairali channel has been selected the best campus programme. The other awards bagged by Kairali are the best music programme (`Symphony'), best telefilm (`Achan Ramakrishnan', directed by C.Annop), the best phone-in- programme (`Kairali on Demand') and the best programme with social commitment (`Pravasi lokam'). Nedumudi Venu and Praveena have been selected the best actor and best actress, respectively. His performance in `Ragardram', a serial telecast by Doordarshan, fetched Mr. Venu the award. This serial has won the award for the best cameraman, shared between Sidharthan and K.G.Jayan. It was her role in `Swapnam', telecast on Asianet, that bagged Praveena the best actress award.
