VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 29. The sailing cruise and ropeway projects of the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) are nearing completion. This was disclosed at the inaugural function of the newly constructed entrance plaza at the VUDA Park on Saturday. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) chairman, S.A. Rahaman, inaugurated the plaza and said that efforts were on to get the ropeway project completed by summer. He also advised the officials to expedite the project work of the circular toy train at Kailasagiri. The vice-chairman of VUDA, D. Sreenivasulu, who presided over the function, explained the plans for development of the VUDA Park. Facilities would be created and maintained to meet the requirements of visitors of all ages and in particular, children and senior citizens, at the park, he said. Another park would also be developed adjoining the VUDA Park in the vacant space beside Pedajalaripeta, involving the loals, he revealed. Facilities had also been provided to the physically handicapped persons visiting the VUDA Park, he said. Wheelchairs and other amenities were provided in association with some NGOs to enable the disabled enjoy their visit to the park. He also announced that the VUDA was making efforts to launch the sailing cruise project on Ugadi, the Telugu New Year's Day, as a gift to the Vizagites and the visitors to the city. The required permission to run the sailing cruise between the two historical places of Visakhapatnam and Bheemunipatnam would be obtained from the agencies concerned before Ugadi, he said. The ropeway project at Kailasagiri was also nearing completion, he added.
