CUDDAPAH, FEB. 29. The Students Federation of India (SFI) district secretary, T. Sunil, on Sunday demanded that the State Government take steps to check irregularities in minority B.Ed. colleges. Stating that the Government extended minority status to 55 new B.Ed. colleges, he alleged that some colleges filled seats without following procedures and collected higher fee than the amount prescribed by the Government, setting aside merit considerations. He demanded filling of seats in minority B.Ed. colleges under the supervision of a Government official to ensure that eligible students were not denied admission. The SFI leader also demanded a three-week extension of the last date of March 1 for District Selection Committee (DSC) test, as the B.Ed. second batch revaluation results were yet to be announced in some universities.
