NEW DELHI, FEB. 29 .The Congress election committee, which went into the selection of candidates for the Parliamentary elections, is understood to have cleared the names of four in Tamil Nadu. Party sources said that among the names understood to have got the nod, include Mani Shankar Aiyar, member of the 13th Lok Sabha from Mayiladuthurai, R. Prabhu from the Nilgiris, the former Tamil Nadu Congress chief, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, from Gobichettipalayam, and another candidate from Rasipuram. The sources said that the committee was still considering the candidature for the Sivaganga Parliamentary constituency in the wake of another request from the former Union Minister, P. Chidambaram. It is understood that Mr. Chidambaram has been once again asked to merge his Congress Jananayaga Peravai with the Indian National Congress. He had had a meeting in this regard with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. Mr. S. Nachiappan had represented the constituency in the dissolved Lok Sabha. The decision on other seats are said to be pending with the central election committee. The committee is understood to have cleared names for a bulk of the seats in West Bengal, including the candidature of Priya Ranjan Das Munshi, Ghani Khan Chaudhary and Adhir Chaudhary, all members of the dissolved Lok Sabha. In Chhattisgarh, S.C. Shukla's name has been cleared, but with a change in constituency.
