Clash in Varanasi

VARANASI, FEB. 29. One person was injured here today when a group lit a bonfire meant for next week's Holi celebrations, police sources said.

A dispute broke out between members of two communities over the setting up of the ``holika'', a bonfire symbolising destruction of evil at Narharpur area, they said.

People belonging to one community later set ablaze the ``holika'', triggering the clash.

Heavy contingents of Provincial Armed Constabulary and police have been deployed. Senior officials of district and police administration have rushed there.
