Mainly clear day forecast

NEW DELHI FEB. 29. The weatherman has forecast a mainly clear sky for the Capital on Monday. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 14 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Sunday were 29.9 and 14.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 29.8 and a minimum of 14.2 degrees Celsius.

Safdarjung recorded a maximum humidity of 87 per cent and a minimum of 20 per cent. At Palam, the maximum and minimum humidity stood at 89 per cent and 31 per cent respectively.

Drive against errant drivers

New Delhi Feb. 29. Taking cognisance of the problems faced by passengers at the hands of unscrupulous Taxi/TSR drivers at Railway Stations here, the Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, has directed the traffic police to launch a concerted drive to discipline such drivers.

Initially, the focus of the drive shall be confined only to Old Delhi, New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Stations and would be later extended to other vulnerable places where people face problems and harassment due to errant behaviour of Taxi/TSR drivers, a Delhi police spokesman said today.

Traffic police has also been directed to keep the roads leading to Railway Stations clear from obstructions and check unauthorised parking of buses and other vehicles, he said.

These directions follows complaints received by Dr. Paul from the public regarding the problems faced by them at the Railway Stations.

Cops have been asked to take action against any Taxi/TSR drivers refusing to take passengers/commuters or over charging or not wearing prescribed uniform/ PSV badges.

eve teasing

NEW DELHI FEB. 29. Three persons, who allegedly indulged in eve teasing, were arrested from a bus shelter at Connaught Place in New Delhi on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Jai Prakash, Ajay Sharma and Praveen, were allegedly passing lewd remarks on a young woman standing in the bus shelter on Janpath when they were overpowered by the passers by and handed over to the police. A case has been registered against them at Connaught Place police station.

Held with ganja

NEW DELHI FEB. 29. A person, who allegedly dealt in ganja, was arrested at Chandni Chowk in North Delhi on Saturday.

According to the police, they recovered 5 kg of ganja from one Suresh, a resident of Chandni Chowk. Suresh is the registered bad character of the area police station. He was previously involved in 12 cases. The police are investigating his other involvements.
