Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the letter, `Ethical question' by Dr. Ananthi Govind Babu (March 1) in response to the report about a 63-year-old woman having been delivered of a test-tube baby in Erode. The incident is likely to send the wrong signals to the public. Dr. S. Selvakumaran, Erode, T.N. * * * Sir, The objection raised is well taken. As pointed out by the writer, the birth of the child by adopting reproductive technique is against the guidelines laid down by the Indian Council for Medical Research. Necessary punitive action should be taken against the chief of the fertility centre concerned. T.D. Venkataraman, Chennai
