TIRUPATI, MARCH 2. "Shivam,'' an audio cassette comprising verses composed by Adi Sankaracharya and mellifluously rendered by noted playback singer, S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, and the budding Vijay Yesudas, was today released at a simple function at the Tirupati Press Club. Brought out by `Shirdi Sai Creations,' music for the album was scored by `Sivapadam' Murali Mohan, columnist for various Telugu dailies. In a brief interaction with mediapersons at the Press Club, Murali Mohan said that the album was brought out by Shirdi Sai Creations to present in an appealing song format the traditional kritis and sthothras to attract, mainly, the younger generation who were fast losing their moorings in culture and heritage and in spiritualism as a whole. He said that as a second venture, producer of the cassette is planning to bring out an album viz; "Thyagaraja Atma Darsanam,'' a complilation of Thyagaraja kritis presented in a melodic Hindustani style without sacrificing the spirit of the song, giving importance at the same time to the lyrics and bhava. It is for the first time that the Thyagaraja kritis have been rendered in a different style and the tunes will be simple and easy to remember, Mr. Murali Mohan said. Since it is a fusion of southern and northern styles, the songs will be rendered by the noted Hindi film singer, Anuradha Paudwal. The album would released in the second week of April in all probability, said Murali Mohan who conceptualised and designed the project besides composing the music score for the album.
