Arrangements for SSC exam

NELLORE: The district administration has made the necessary arrangements for the coming 10th class and Intermediate examinations.

According to an estimate, there are 22,837 regular and 7,171 private candidates for the 10th class examination. The authorities have set up 109 examination centres for regular candidates and 32 centres for private candidates. The examination will be held from March 17 to April 1 and the timings will be from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Intermediate examination will be held from March 17 to March 31 and the timings will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Congress will win: YSR's son

Cuddapah: Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the former CLP Leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, asserted on Tuesday that the winds were blowing in favour of the Congress and the party would come to power in the coming elections.

Addressing a press conference at Vempalle, he said the Congress-TRS combine would sweep the Telangana region. The Congress also gained patronage in the coastal Andhra region owing to the padayatra of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said.

Plea to revoke suspension

CHITTOOR: The PCC member, N. Gandhi Babu, and the Congress party floor leader, Ganesh Reddy, have urged the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, to revoke the suspension imposed on the former MLA, C.K. Babu, who is implicated in a murder case.

They said on Tuesday that Mr. Babu was elected MLA on the Congress ticket thrice in a row from the Chittoor Assembly constituency. They said he was instrumental in the party's win from the Palamaner, Vepanjeri and Chandragiri constituencies in the last election.

BSNL offer to subscribers

CHITTOOR: The Divisional Engineer, Telecommunications (Maintenance), Vidhyasagar Gupta, on Tuesday said the BSNL would offer facilities such as call waiting, alternative calling, hotline, call transfer, automatic wake-up and reminder call, caller line identification and others services for subscribers.

He said the cash receipt counters would function from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.

Workers take out rally

CHITTOOR: Workers of the Balaji and VSN Hatcheries took out a procession in the main streets of the town demanding that the management cancel the illegal transfer orders.

The union leaders -- Bala Krishna, Rafi, Bhaskar Reddy, Ramesh, Srinivasulu and Vasanth -- also demanded that the management implement the Labourers Act and sanction bonus to the workers.

Youth killed in mishap

KURNOOL: A youth, identified as Ambikeswara Rao (19), who was hit by an autorickshaw at Dhone died in the hospital later. According to reports, the youth along with others was standing on the road when the autorickshaw hit him.
