SAARC Writers' Conference

NEW DELHI, MARCH 2. The former Prime Minister, V.P. Singh, is scheduled to attend a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Writers' Conference from March 12 to 14 in Lahore.

A press statement said that U.R. Ananthamurthy, Namwar Singh, Kamleshwar, Shamim Hanafi, Sitakanta Mahapatra and Ajeet Cour (India), Tissa Jayatalika and Tissa Abeysekera (Sri Lanka), Abhi Subedi and Dambar Bir Thapa (Nepal), Syed Shamsul Haq, Zobaida Gulshan Aara and Kaiser Haq (Bangladesh), Abbas Ibrahim (Maldives) and Tshering Dorji (Bhutan) were also likely to take part in the meeting. The theme of the Conference, the organisers said, was "Understanding and Synergy Through Literature".
