`Gajamela' tomorrow

KOLLAM MARCH 2. Fifty tuskers will take part in the gajamela on March 4 organised in connection with the annual festival of the Pattathanam Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple. The tuskers would assemble at the Chemamukku junction and then move towards the temple. The festival general convener, P. Pradeep, said that all tuskers participating in the event would be subjected to a comprehensive examination to ascertain their physical fitness.

MP's phone number

The telephone number of the Rajya Sabha member, N. K. Premachandran, has changed. The new number is 2791000, a statement from the MP's office says.

New forum

The noted cinematographer, Sunny Joseph, today formally inaugurated the Forum for Alternative Cultural Enquiries (FACE) at a function here today. The FACE would function as a forum for teaching and promoting art and culture. In connection with the inauguration feature, documentary and animation films were screened.

Constituted

A reception committee for the coming district conference of the All India Lawyers Union (AILU), with Pazhinjiyil Jayachandran Nair as chairman and G. Vijayakumar as convener, has been constituted at a meeting presided over by the AILU president, E. Shahnavas Khan.

Seminar on Christian folklore

KOTTAYAMKOLLAM, MARCH 2.MARCH 2. The State Folklore Academy would organise a two-day seminar on Christian folklore and traditional art festival here on Friday and Saturday. The seminar has been organised to remedy the situation as not enough studies had been done into Christian folklores in the State, organisers said. The Excise Minister, K.V. Thomas, would inaugurate the seminar on Friday.

Leadership camps

The Alukkas International and the Kottayam-based My Baby Cradle will organise two residential leadership camps for students from Standard V to IX during the summer vacation, according to the organiser, E.P. Mathew. The first one for the senior students would be held from April 14 to 18 and that for other students would be held from April 25 to 29. For details, contact telephone: 0481-2310445.
