Paritala says he was misquoted

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR, MARCH. 2. The Telugu Desam Party strongman and former legislator of Penukonda, Paritala Ravindra, today said that he was misinterpreted by the media on his speech at the party workers' meeting at Roddam yesterday.

What he had meant was that the party needed to be infused with new blood and that he did not mean that he would not contest the coming elections, he claimed.

In his clarification to the media on Tuesday night he stated that he wanted to set an example for others in the party.

He explained that senior leaders of the party were getting elected as legislators for two, three and four terms without giving any chance to youngsters. By declaring that party needed new blood in Penukonda constituency he had tried to drive home the point that there was enough internal democracy in the party, he said.
