Fervour marks chariot festival in Yadagirigutta

By Our Staff Reporter

YADAGIRIGUTTA, (NALGONDA DT.), MARCH 2. The processional deities of goddess Lakshmi and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy were taken around the temple town on a specially decked up chariot (Divya Vimana Ratham) around midnight on Monday.

Thousands of devotees burnt the midnight oil to have a glimpse of the procession with religious fervour.

Cries of `Yadagiri Narasimha. . Govinda. . . Govinda..' rent the air, while the priests offered special prayers to mark the occasion.

The procession, which started from the Rajagopuram after the `visesha pushpalankarna' (decoration with varieties of flowers), continued for about one and a half hours.

Earlier in the morning, the processional deity of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy was taken around the town on the Garuda Vahana, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, which finds a mention in the Puranas.
