HYDERABAD, MARCH. 2. A joint effort by members of the East Zone of the Police Commissioner's Task Force and the Begum Bazar police on Tuesday led to the busting of a seven-member gang of cheats. A cardboard box with related material and seven mobile phones were seized from them. A press release said that the team had raided a room in Rajadhani Hotel and nabbed seven persons -- K. Ramesh Kumar (52), M.K. Vasu (26) and M. Appala Naidu (26) from Visakhapatnam, L. Sharath Babu (30) from Bheemavaram, K. Praveen (29) of Mangalagiri, M. Anjaneyulu (27) of Tadepalligudem and B. Sastry (25) of Guntur, on charge of cheating. The police said that the prime accused, Ramesh Kumar, was the kingpin of a racket that involved cheating public on the pretext of supplying them fake currency in the ratio of 1:3 (Rs. One lakh in genuine notes against Rs. Three lakhs of fake notes). The accused and the seized property was handed over to the Begum Bazar police for further action. The raid was conducted by Inspector, T. Varahala Raju and his men.
