Right step

Sir, — Coming on the heels of the rule making it mandatory for candidates to file an affidavit stating their educational qualifications, criminal antecedents, etc., the Delhi High Court directive to the Election Commission to publicise the candidates' dues to public utilities along with their financial liabilities to banks is one more step in the right direction.

Sir, — The Chief Election Commissioner's idea of giving voters a `none of the above' choice may be termed negative but it could bring the reluctant, pessimistic and frustrated non-voters to the polling booths, at least to register their protest.
