Party stand on Telangana soon: APCC chief

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 3. The Congress high command would take an appropriate decision on Telangana issue within two to three days, said the APCC president, D. Srinivas, here on Wednesday.

Mr Srinivas, along with party leaders - M. Satyanarayana Rao, G. Venkat Swamy, P. Shiva Shankar and Narsa Reddy -- the DCC presidents of Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Adilabad and Medak districts and the former legislators of the region, inspected th eB.R. Ambedkar stadium in the town for organising the public meeting to be addressed by the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, on March 11.

In a brief chat with newsmen, the APCC president said that the high command would come out with its stand on Telangana very soon. He also said that they would accord priority to weaker sections, youth and women in the allotment of party ticket.

About the TRS deciding to field its candidates against the CPI(M) candidates, he said: "I don't think they will do that." Stating that the Congress was ahead of all parties in the electioneering in the State by organising bus yatras and other programmes in 20 districts, he said the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi's public meetings in Nandyal (March 10), Karimnagar (March 11) and Vijayawada (March 12) would further intensify the campaign.

He said that the PCC general secretary, Indrasen Reddy and the former MLA, K.R. Suresh Reddy, were appointed coordinators for the Karimnagar public meeting.

He clarified that the public meeting was being organised by the Congress and TRS leaders could also participate in it.
