Textile fair a hit
Spread over a large area in Pragati Maidan, a wide range of home textiles, fabrics, yarns and accessories are on display at the event. Apart from traditional items, the CAD-designed garments attracted overseas buyers.
The award for the best display in different categories were presented today evening by the Union Textiles Secretary. S. B. Mohapatra. In the category of Home Furnishings ad made-ups, the Gold Trophy to Shiv Ganga exports. In the category of Fabrics and Accessories, the Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies were bagged by Swarovski India, Garden Silk and Shingora Shawls respectively. The jury comprised journalists from USA and Brazil and other textile officials.
Earlier, a seminar on "Easy Care Wool and Technofinishes'' was organised by The Woolmark Company concurrently with the exhibition. The five-day fair organised by ITPO comes to a close on March 4.
Free consultation for Asthma
Experts in the field of naturopathy, yoga and ayurveda will be available at the camp for consultation. In addition, they will provide free lifestyle and dietary counselling. Traditional medicine will also be popularised at the camp.
"Various allergic conditions including bronchial asthma are the result of stress and lifestyle changes in the present day context ", said the Director of the hospital, R.M. Nair, adding: "Naturopathy and yoga therapy has been found to be very effective in the holistic management of respiratory disorders''.
Quiz contest for special kids
The aim of organising the quiz competition was to create a common ground whereby kids from different schools of Delhi can interact with one another and exchange views and ideas. The competition constituted two rounds -- preliminary and final - involving specific audio-visual, verbal and cognitive skills.
The quizmaster, Archana Prabhakar, who has several years of experience in organising quiz competitions for special children, grilled the 23 participating teams. The winners were awarded trophies and medals.
Functioning reviewed
It was also directed that licenses of spurious and sub-standard drugs manufacturers should be cancelled and action be initiated promptly.
While the Testing laboratory of the Delhi Government at Lawrence Road was found to be functioning well, it was felt that it needs to be strengthened. Directions were given for the recruitment of more research and peripheral staff.
