NEW DELHI, MARCH 3. A city court has framed charges against two Sub-Divisional Magistrates and two other accused for their alleged role in trafficking people abroad by forging documents. The Special Judge, Dinesh Dayal, framed charges against accused K S Meena (SDM, Sadar Bazar), Prakash Chandra (SDM, Rajouri Garden), Nayeen Ahmed of Zee Enterprises and Sanjiv Gupta (clerk in an advocate's office). The SDMs abused their official position and gave incomplete and partially-filled affidavits to the two private firms Khatri Enterprises and Zee which filled the names of unskilled workers showing them as skilled or semi-skilled, CBI alleged. Avinash Chandra of Khatri Enterprises was also an accused in the case but has passed away. The firms then used these affidavits to get clearance from Protector of Immigrants Office, the agency said. The firms took advantage of the law which said immigration clearence was not required for semi-skilled and skilled workers, it added. They showed the unskilled workers as skilled workers in the affidavits, attached the same with passports and got the clearance done, CBI alleged. During a surprise raid on April 30, 1997, 72 affidavits were recovered from the office of Khatri Enterprises and 43 from Zee, CBI alleged, adding that some used affidavits were recovered from the office of Protector of Immigrants. Accused Sanjiv Gupta used to get the affidavits signed by the SDMs, the agency alleged. - PTI.
