Admission to post-graduate Nursing courses

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 3. Applications have been invited for the entrance examination for admission to the post-graduate courses in Nursing (MSc Nursing) 2002, in the Colleges of Nursing at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Kozhikode.

The specialties offered are Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing.

Applicants should be Indian citizens of Kerala origin, with graduation in Nursing, with a degree awarded by the Kerala, Calicut or Mahatma Gandhi Universities.

They should also have experience of two years subsequent to the award of the degree, in any hospital with an average strength of 100 patients, or in a school of nursing, or in a community health programme or should have an internship of one year besides an experience of one year after registration.

The selection of candidates, except for `Lecturer Quota', would be made on the basis of an entrance examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), in Thiruvananthapuram, on April 17. The test will be of three hours duration, with 200 multiple-choice questions.

Application forms are common for both `General' and `Service' candidates and will be available along with the prospectus, at the official website of the CEE, cee-kerala.org, from March 6 onwards. Application form and prospectus will not be available from the medical colleges or from the office of the CEE.

Service candidates who wish to be considered for the general merit quota can also appear for the entrance examination.

Completed application forms with all the documents specified in the prospectus and experience certificate, should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram- 695001, before March 31.

The selection, admission and allotment of seats, including those under the Lecturer Quota, will be made by the Director of Medical Education, based on various provisions laid down in the prospectus.
