Clear skies

CHENNAI, MARCH 4. The sky will be mainly clear on Friday. The maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be around 23 degrees Celsius.

On Thursday, Nungambakkam registered a maximum of 33.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius, while Meenambakkam recorded a maximum of 34.1 degrees and a minimum of 22.8 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 66 per cent at Nungambakkam and at Meenambakkam it was 59 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in Purasawalkam, Kilpauk, Egmore, Sowcarpet, Vepery, Thiruvanmiyur industrial estate and Santhome areas on March 6 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work

Award conferred

The Director General of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research R.A. Mashelkar, has been conferred `For The Sake of Honour Award' by the Rotary Club of Madras East on Wednesday. The award was given away by the Governor, P.S. Ramamohan Rao.

Demonstration

Members of the Thamizhaga Cable TV Operators' General Welfare Association on Thursday staged a demonstration to urge the Centre to take steps for telecasting India-Pakistan cricket series on Doordarshan.

Medical camp

A free medical camp for persons with liver and gastro-intestinal problems will be conducted at the Madras Medical Mission on Sunday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Registration is restricted to 250 persons. Those interested can contact the hospital at 26561801 or 26565991 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
