Letters to the Editor
Sir, In his article, "Voter versus politician" (March 5), Rajeev Dhavan has raised some pertinent questions. His advocacy of the voter's right to know the criminal antecedents of candidates reflects the public thinking in the matter. A tax-paying and law-abiding citizen has every right to x-ray a candidate's past. Lessons of accountability are a must for aspiring leaders.
N.K. Vijayan,
* * * Sir, The Election Commission's idea to have a `none-of-the-above' option in the electronic voting machines is timely. With political parties seemingly competing with one another to nominate all and sundry, the electors ought to have a way of stating explicitly: "This is it. No more such candidates."
V. Subrahmanyam,
Chennai
